Amrapali mango is a famous mango from the Bengal region of India- although it is now grown in many other regions of India as well. It is a fairly new variety which has quickly gained popularity due to its hardiness and sweetness.
This variety is a cross between neelam and dussehri. It has 2-3 times more beta carotene content than other commercial varieties.
- It is said to have been named after the famed dancer, Amrapali, known for her beauty in ancient folklore.
